Austin FC announces first generation of young academy players

The Under-14 team, made up entirely of Austin-area boys born in or after 2006, is the first academy team announced by Austin FC. According to a May 29 press release, the U14 team will begin playing in the fall of 2019 against other MLS academies and other youth football clubs in the US Soccer Development Academy system.

“Austin is very rich in talented young footballers,” U14 head coach Junro Narita said in a press release. “This group represents a true integration of players with diverse backgrounds, skills and personalities that reflect this vibrant community. “

The team roster is made up of 19 people, all from the Austin area. Fourteen of those players came from Lonestar Soccer Club, headquartered in northwest Austin, while the rest of the squad had previously trained with Barca Academy Austin and Liverpool Barnes.

Austin FC Academy recruited the U14 squad in six practice sessions spread over several months, according to the press release.

The new Austin FC Youth Academy team is currently ready to train and play their games at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School located next to the 360 ​​Loop. Eventually, the team will be relocating to the St. David’s Performance Center recently announced during construction.

According to a May 29 press release, the MLS club are also looking to form U15 and U17 teams by the 2020-21 season.
