Emirates News Agency – SESD Youth Council highlights aspirations of young people in industry

SHARJAH, 9th March, 2022 (WAM) — The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) Youth Council has organized a virtual discussion session in cooperation with the Federal Youth Authority and the Sharjah Foundation for Support to entrepreneurship (RUWAD).

The session aimed to highlight the role of the UAE in the development of the industry, clarify the basic needs to carry out industrial projects, discuss the challenges facing the entrepreneur sector and discuss solutions to encourage young people to reach this vital sector. In addition, it aims to support the sustainability and growth of the activity of young entrepreneurs in the country’s private sector establishments and to orient entrepreneurs towards the industrial sector, which is the most important engine of the national economy.

The session was attended by Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the SEDD, and a number of members of the department’s youth council. Also, Maryam Nasir Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director of Industrial Affairs Department at SEDD, Fatima Al Ali, Director of Project Support and Finance Department at RUWAD Foundation, and a number of industrial sector investors and owners existing industrial projects supported by the foundation.

Al Suwaidi said Sharjah has succeeded in creating an appropriate and sound legislative and legal environment that supports the visions and plans of the industrial sector and can keep pace with the fourth industrial revolution. He added that the SEDD pays great attention to providing all means of support and motivation to the companies and factories of the emirate, to contribute effectively to the development of the performance and sustainability of the industrial sector of the emirate.

He added that the SESD is working on a new action plan with an ambitious century-old vision to help make the UAE the best country in the world by 2071. Furthermore, he pointed out that there is a significant increase in the total number of industrial licenses. reaching 13% over the last five years.

Probably, the session witnessed a great interaction during which the participants discussed a number of topics on the needs of entrepreneurs to start investing in the industrial sector. In addition, the roundtable highlighted the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in the industrial sector. The participants also discussed the role of the State in the development of the industrial sector and the solutions proposed to encourage young people to enter the world of industry.
