- The Minister of State of the Federal Capital Territory also donated some food products to the youth council
FCT, Abuja- Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State donated 100 bags of rice, yam tubers and four cows to the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN.
An Ebonyi government official, Dr. Nwovu Kizito, who represented Barr. Joseph Ekumankama, State Commissioner for Intergovernmental Affairs and Abuja Liaison Officer, presented the papers at NYCN in Abuja.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr Kizito said Nigerian youths should make themselves useful to society and not dependent on handouts.

He also said that the Governor is a friend of the youth and this is evident in his youth focused programs in Ebonyi State.

“This gesture comes from the Governor because of his love for Nigerian youth and his contribution to national development.
“The Governor is optimistic that young Nigerians will continue to play a vital role in the country as they have in the past.
“He has sent his assurances that he will continue to partner with young people, especially the National Youth Council of Nigeria, to ensure that issues affecting young Nigerians are effectively addressed at all times.”
Similarly, FCT Minister of State Hajia Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliyu donated 100 bags of rice and around 100 packets of assorted condiments including noodles and spaghetti to the NYCN.

The Minister noted that the NYCN has been a worthy partner to the FCT administration, especially on issues related to mobilizing young people for positive causes and advocacy in the Nigerian capital.
NYCN celebrates Senator Akpabio in Abuja
Recall that on Friday, December 10 in Abuja, the NYCN organized an anniversary conference in honor of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
In his welcome speech at the event, NYCN Chairman Solomon Adodo extolled the qualities and leadership of Senator Akpabio, praying to God to grant him health, wisdom and more years of service in Nigeria and to humanity in general.
He said Akpabio had brought much needed calm and progress to the Niger Delta region and the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in a short time.

In a related development, one group, the Merged Coalition of Niger Delta Enlightenment and Peace Initiative, condemned Senator Akpabio’s criticisms.

According to the group, those attacking the minister are unpatriotic Nigerians frustrated that the minister has been cleaning up the system since his arrival.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the groups’ facilitator, Comrade Friday Maduka, said the minister was a popular figure in the Niger Delta region due to his achievements.
