The LaGrange Youth Council raised nearly 12 hundred dollars at its “I Sweat Green” Fun Run fundraiser. Dozens of people took part in the event along the Thread Trail on Saturday April 9e. All the money raised will go to the community garden in the Calumet Park neighborhood called Pat’s Garden. Patricia Underwood owned a convenience store in Calumet Park and cared for many neighborhood children. In early 2020, “Mrs. Pat,” as she was affectionately known, was hit by a stray bullet and killed. The citizens of Calumet Park are set to begin construction of a community garden in her name that will benefit the whole community.

“We are extremely proud of what the Youth Council has accomplished with this fun race,” said LaGrange Youth Council Advisor Adam Speas. “Their passion for this project made it a huge success. We see future leaders in action, and it’s exciting to see.
