MNF failed to run government effectively, says Indian Youth Congress leader

AIZAWL: Indian Youth Congress National Secretary Nur Sofique Wazid is on a three-day visit to Mizoram to strengthen the party, a Congress leader said on Friday.

Wazid, who arrived on Wednesday, met with the young leaders of the State Congress and the chairman of the Lalsawta party and discussed with them how the party would regain power in the next Assembly polls scheduled for the end of 2023, said the Chairman of the Youth Wing of the State Congress, Dr. Lalmalsawma Nghaka.

During the interactions, congressional leaders discussed a wide range of issues, including youth development, he said.

Addressing a Bhavan Congress function here on Thursday, Wazid said the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) would make massive efforts to strengthen the party to form inclusive popular government in the state.

Hitting the BJP-led NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress leader alleged that commodity prices, including oil and cooking gas, had soared rapidly under the NDA government.

“The BJP has done nothing but focus on a policy of enrichment and profit between the party and its henchmen or the rich,” he said.

Wazid accused the BJP of marginalizing religious minorities because of its Hindutva agenda.

“The BJP gives the transformation of India into a Hindu kingdom as its top priority. He propagated the policy of Hindutva as a result of which religious minorities were marginalized and suppressed,” he said.

The Congress leader also leaned on Mizoram’s ruling party, the Mizo National Front (MNF), alleging that he (MNF) could return to power in the latest Assembly polls with the help of the BJP.

He said the MNF is a staunch member of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) and a true ally of the NDA at the Centre.

He alleged that the MNF has completely failed in financial management and government management.

Under the MNF rule, government debt is growing rapidly, government employees cannot be paid on time, and many patients are in great distress due to prolonged delays in health insurances or medical bills, he said. .

As under the BJP government at the Center, only a microscopic section of society is meant to get rich under the MNF regime, he said.
