The Northern Nigeria Youth Council (NYCN) has written to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to request the withdrawal of a petition against the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation and the Senator representing the Senate District from North Kano, Senator Barau Jibrin.

In a letter written by the Council, signed by NYCN President Isah Abubukar, and received by the EFCC on October 12, 2021, the NYCN said the decision to withdraw the petition resulted from the discovery that politicians were using the Council. to fight their opponents.

The NYCN had, on October 7, 2021, written a petition to the EFCC against Senator Jibrin, his children; Jibrin Zainab, Jibrin Shawal, Jibrin Khalil; their companies Sinti Nigeria limited (RC 398938), Engr. Jibrin power electric engineering (BN 2431830), Talgo Luxury Estate Investment Nig Ltd (RC1312306) and Zanb polyvalent business stores (BN2637321) for money laundering, budget fraud, illegal enrichment, abuse of power and contract fraud.

Part of the letter said that “the multiple submissions received by our leaders after our petition to your Commission dated October 7, 2021.

“We have discovered that our dear organizations as the voices of the voiceless youth of northern Nigeria are about to be unwittingly used to wage a political battle that falls far short of the purpose and core value of the council. , a lot of interest ranging from politics and others has been discovered recently to be the power behind the scenes to send reports and pretend to use our dear organization to fight Senator Jubrin, which we consider to be an act contrary to ethical and deliberate to use our dear organizations to wage a political fight with the senator.

“We have acted on the basis of the reports submitted to our secretariat with the intention that they are of real concern, but the event then proved otherwise, hence our determination to move away from the murky waters of politics. “
