Ohanaeze elects leadership of the National Youth Council

Mazi Demian Okafor became the national youth leader of the socio-cultural organization Apex Igbo, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC.

Okafor, from Ebonyi State, defeated 3 candidates to become the national youth leader in the peaceful election held Thursday at the Ohanaeze secretariat in Enugu.

Also elected were Jones Onwunasanya, Deputy National Youth Leader, National Secretary of Okpala Ezechukwu, Deputy Secretary of Okechukwu Okorie, National Financial Secretary Authur Ugwu Felix and National Secretary of Advertising Chika Adiele.

The hotly contested election began with the accreditation of delegates from the seven Igbo-speaking states of Abia, Anambra, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo and Rivers states.

The new executive is to lead the youth affairs of the main group for the next four years.

Speaking at the ceremony held at Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s national headquarters in Enugu, newly elected national youth leader Damian Okafor pledged to unite all Igbo youth to enable them to speak with one voice, while instructing young people to avoid such social vices such as drug addiction. , crime, violence, theft, agitation.

He expressed satisfaction with the way the Igbo leaders and governors are handling the current security situation in the region, and expressed optimism that the region will experience peace and positive long-term development.

On what to expect from the new executive, he vowed to pursue programs that would intellectually and otherwise improve young people, promising that their main task would be the cultural and value reorientation of young people, training, empowerment, among others. .

Ohanaeze Ndigbo spokesman Chief Alex Ogbonnia, who oversaw the exercise, congratulated the organizers, saying: “I like the way they campaigned vigorously ahead of this election.

“I am happy that the delegates responded at the level of the campaigns put on the ground. This is what I see here ”.

He advised the new youth leaders to lead young people with the dynamism and effervescence with which they campaigned and won the elections, saying such attributes would add glamor to Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

The leader, Ogbonnia, who instructed the new youth leadership to carry out their duties diligently, urged them to support the national leadership of Ohanaeze to move the Igbo nation forward.
