Members of the Playaz Youth Academy are working to bring basketball back to life in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). It is happening before our eyes; patrons and players alike were very excited to see the youngsters back on Calliaqua’s hard court over the Easter weekend during the Easter Mavrix Basketball Tournament where the Playaz Youth Academy came out on top.

In a statement, the Academy appealed for help to revive the sport.

“We encourage young people to get involved and busy doing something positive, not only through our Academy, but any other in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Our Academy welcomes young people from the age of seven, boys and girls.

“Saturday morning clinics are held at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex from 9 a.m. to noon.

Parents/guardians/families and friends, I implore you to take the time, encourage them, too many people go astray, too many people bury their talents; we are a nation that not only excels in studies but also in sports, don’t just sit and watch what our parents used to say “an idle brain and hands are the playground of the devil”.

“I believe we may have some future NBA stars here waiting to be discovered.

“The Playaz Youth Academy is gearing up to host its annual basketball summer camp; we will also be hosting an invitational sports showcase and much more.”

The Academy invites people to check for updates on its Facebook and Instagram pages, “Playaz Youth Academy” or call (784) 533-4216.
