Bangalore, August 13: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Chairman DK Shivakumar called on Youth Congress workers to work to strengthen the party from the bottom up and strengthen the organization.

Addressing a function to mark RakshaRamaiah taking office as president of the State Youth Congress in Bengaluru on Friday, he asked all members of Congress to focus on meeting people at the stand level and to fight to solve the problems of the people while educating them about the failures of the BJP over the past seven years and in the state.

AICC Observer Madhu Yakshigowd, KPCC Working Presidents Salim Ahmed, Dhruva Narayan and Mahila State Congress President Pushpa Amarnath attended the ceremony.

Shivakumar said the Congress party should organize itself from the stand level and strengthen the organization upwards. If the party had conveyed the message to the people about the pro-popular and progressive steps taken by the Siddaramaiah government in the state and Dr Manmohan Singh in Delhi, Congress would not have lost the elections.

All congressmen and young congressmen should try to build their base from the institutions of the panchayat raj, he said, stressed that he started his career as a member of the zilla panchayat and that Ramalinga Reddy had started as a business. Several national leaders, including Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, had started as ordinary workers, he said.

The Youth Congress and all party workers must work to solve the problems of the people in their area and gain the trust of the people, who in turn will bless when the time comes, he said.
