Roodepoort beat dreams of a youth academy

The role of a DJ is to set the mood and mood for a party. As the saying goes, “If the beat is right, I’ll dance the night away”.

Many people at Roodepoort have their favorite DJs that they would like to know and maybe decipher from which all their creative talents ooze.

From a young age, Hpcornerstone resident musician DJ Sandile Mkhwanazi, better known as DJ Nkandla, has always been curious about the world of music and what goes on behind the decks.

Lucky for him, in 2009 he met Kabelo Letlhake (DJ Kabza) who is now a great friend of his. DJ Kabza had a sound system and was more than willing to teach his new friend how to play.

Since then, DJ Nkandla has never looked back and continues his love for music.

“The sight of people dancing on my selection and having fun overwhelms me; it fuels my passion for music even more.

“My advice to aspiring young DJs would be to never give up their passion for music, no matter what obstacles they might face.

“They should continue to hone their craft and knock on doors to get their names known,” said DJ Nkandla.

Asked by the Record where he saw himself in the next five years, the popular beat banger did not hesitate to reveal his dream of having an academy for young children who would like to become a DJ come true.

“I met Katlego Masemola, the founder of the Kopano Yabana organization, to discuss teaching DJs to some of the children in her care.

“I really believe this will empower the music-oriented young people of Roodepoort and I want to give them this opportunity,” he explained.

DJ Nkandla confirmed to Record that he voted in the November 1 election and explained why.

“I’ve seen the power of my vote work for me before. We are looking for sponsorships and so on from the government and my vote allows me to be able to knock on their doors for opportunities and to be heard. In addition, every South African should exercise their right to vote, ”said DJ Nkandla.
