Valentine’s Day: Youth Congress shares love with the needy

The Pimpri-Chinchwad District Youth Congress celebrated Valentine’s Day on Sunday in a unique way with the disabled and the deprived. Donations in the form of sweets, gifts, old clothes and check were made to Mai Bal Bhavan in Mamurdi.

About 45 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 35 live in Mai Bal Bhavan. Among them are the blind, the disabled, the HIV-positive, the destitute and the victims of various atrocities.

City Youth Congress President Narendra Bansode said, “Valentine’s Day is celebrated all over the world and on this day wishes and gifts are given to those we love. We have love, sympathy and goodwill towards the neglected, destitute and crippled brethren of society and it is in this spirit that this ceremony has been organized.

The initiative aims to spread the message of service and dedication to the needs of young people and create a friendly relationship between the able and the helpless, he added.

The director of the organization M Pratigya Deshpande graced the occasion. Madhukar Ingle, another director, spoke about the organization, the need for new spaces and sports equipment and thanked the Youth Congress for their help.

Youth Congress leaders Rahul Kalbhor, Vishal Sarode, Milind Bansode, Hirachand Jadhav, Saurabh Shinde, Arnav Kamthe, Tejas Patil, Omkar Pawar, Pravin Jadhav, Akash Jadhav, Rakesh Sapange and other bureau members were present at the event.
