Youth council calls on Ijaw politicians to unite to develop Bayelsa

The Ijaw World Youth Council (IYC) has urged politicians of Ijaw descent to always close ranks and work in unity to develop Bayelsa.

The youth council also congratulated Governor Douye Diri on his second anniversary as governor of the state.

IYC President Peter Igbifa said this in Yenagoa when he led his executive council members to present Governor Douye Diri with a letter of credentials confirming an award given to him by young people in as a great ambassador of the IYC.

Igbifa praised Diri for his commitment to the development and progress of Bayelsa and the Ijaw Nation, describing his leadership style as exceptional and credible.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that February 14 this year marked Diri’s two-year tenure as Governor of Bayelsa.

“We have decided to confer upon you the IYC Grand Ambassador for your outstanding and credible leadership style. You have shown love and commitment to the development of the Ijaw nation.

“You have also worked for the unity of this nation across party lines, and that is why we call on all politicians in Ijaw country to close ranks and work in unity despite their partisan affiliations for the progress of the Ijaw nation.

“They must join you in spreading the love as we must implement a winning plan to achieve a prosperous nation,” he said.

While receiving the award, Governor Diri, popularly referred to as the “Miracle Governor”, ​​thanked Igbifa for his recognition and congratulated him for changing the IYC narrative.

He described the credentials as a strategic move and a huge encouragement for him to do more.

“It shows that the only way for the Ijaw Nation is progress and that the face of the Ijaw Nation is once again visible.
