The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) commended the members of the body serving as ad hoc election officials in the Anambra Governorate election, held on November 6, 2021, for the commendable role that they played in strengthening democracy in Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement released on Sunday by the organization’s vice president, Comrade Akoshile Mukhtar. The statement noted that the commitment and dedication of the corps members to the election is an indication that Nigerian youth are not only ready to partner with the government to ensure the sustainability of Nigerian democracy, but are also willing to make sacrifices to drive positive change.
Mukhtar said the on-site assessment shows that the election was conducted in a free and fair manner, even though the corps members deployed for the election displayed the highest level of professionalism and moral uprightness. No member of the body has been singled out for professional misconduct or unethical behavior, he added.
“On behalf of the NYCN, I appreciate the members of the body and consider them to be true ambassadors of Nigerian youth.
“In addition, I applaud the men and women of the Nigerian police for the protection of Nigerians, especially members of the corps during the election campaign,” Mukhtar said.
He then assured corps members, security officers and the federal government of the council’s support and collaboration to ensure the achievement of socio-economic and political development in Nigeria.
