The Mpumalanga Youth Council organization received 16 computers from a Gauteng IT company on Thursday, August 26.
Ms Angel Maphalala, director of the organization, said their organization is focused on empowering young people in Govan Mbeki Municipality, especially the unemployed.
She said their organization depends on donations from individuals and private companies.
âWith these computers that we have received, we are looking forward to working with the young people of eMbalenhle to equip them with free computer skills. They will use the Internet for free and there will be classes for those who want to acquire computer skills.
âWe want to start teaching young people how to use a computer from the 5th grade. We want to partner with other businesses and organizations to help young people who have completed their education but are not studying to work, to give them access to computers and the Internet to look for opportunities, âMs. Maphalala said.
She said they wanted to change the lives of young people.
They started the organization out of their own pocket. They saw a need because the majority of young people cannot afford a taxi to get information.
Their organization also offers a feeding program for the poor and the unemployed.
The organization operates from extension 26, eMbalenhle.
They can be reached on 081 545 4102.
