The Tiv Youth Organization (TYO) attacked President Muhamadu Buhari over comments allegedly attributed to him regarding the reasons why Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom left the All Progressives Congress (APC )
Buhari reportedly told members of the Nigerian community in Dubai that Ortom had left the CPA due to unresolved issues over open cattle grazing in Benue State.
But in a swift reaction, the TYO in a statement by its chairman general, Timothy Hembaor, argued that the president’s comment was a confirmation of his anti-Benue stance, noting that the statement had further confirmed Governor Ortom’s lack of confidence. in the federal authorities to protect his persons.
Hembaor, who found it laughable, President Buhari’s claim that those who killed in Benue were not Fulani shepherds in Nigeria, referred the president to a series of press conferences where Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore (MAKH) and other Fulani organizations have accepted responsibility for the killings in Benue and other parts of the country.
The youth organization said that instead of putting forward means to end the crisis definitively, the president unfortunately chose to dwell on the duration of the crisis.
While maintaining this was a clear signal that President Buhari had no solution to the problems plaguing the country, Hembaor said the president would instead have prevailed over the security agencies to ensure the implementation. of the Livestock Law which has proven to be the only solution outside of the farmers / ranchers and as world best practice in animal husbandry instead of accusing Governor Ortom wrongly.
On the president’s statement that politicians have converted areas that were set aside as grazing roads in the 1960s to their private farms, TYO said: âIt is very sad that President Buhari is talking about grazing roads that have were created in the 1960s.
âWhat was the population of Nigeria at the time? What is the population now? So you see it clearly showed the president’s bias towards his Fulani brothers even as the president of the country and we as a body are firmly behind Governor Ortom which is why we have it overwhelmingly. reelected.
The body indicated that it is for this reason that the people of the state resolved to reject the CPA as was shown in the last general elections, stressing that the people were even more determined to take their destiny in hand and will remain determined to defend his ancestral lands.
âThe people of Benue are with Governor Ortom as long as he stays with us, so we will continue to be with him,â the corps said.
